Woah Brother 02:54
Slowly dripping candle wax Shows us the time receding Dreams of talks we’ll never have About what we believe in As naïve children we believed There was meaning to what we achieved Woah brother We’d wait until the witching hours To tell our secret stories Of ships and sails and ceiling wax And hopes for future glories Whiskey loosened up our lips But never enough for us to kiss Woah lover Years when by and tears were cried Awaiting perfect timing We’d fight and scream and make a scene Our stars never aligning Excitedly we would spar But sometimes we’d go to far Oh how to recover

I’ll never have a perfect body I’ll never have a perfect soul Still I deserve somebody With whom I can stroll No I don’t need much money I don’t need a car I just want someone who’s kind of funny To play me to sleep on his guitar No I don’t seek much power I don’t want to rule Just want someone to sit with by the hour And to hold me when life is cruel And when I’m gone I’m bound to be forgotten No statues erect for me Still I am grateful for all that I’ve gotten A life full and free

The pitter-patter in Berlin Reminds me of our beginning Now while the rains falling I can’t help recalling you Our love was so innocent You merely held my hand And I dreamed of a time When you would be all mine But now you’re just so far And now the rain's falling I’m here recalling you My fingers ran through Your flaxen locks I got to know you Through our philosophical talks Now the rain’s falling And I'm here recalling you Oh the rain the rain and you Oh the rain yes the rain the rain it’s hard explain But when the rain’s falling I can’t help recalling you We climbed up the waterfall One excursion changed it all Bit by bit we intertwine Silently we tread the line Now while the rains falling I’m here recalling you Your jokes were so dirty But you were just being flirty La di da la di da You will never be mine La di da la di da Still I might pine for you While the rain’s falling And I'm here recalling you Oh the rain the rain and you The rain yes the rain the pain’s inhumane But when rain’s falling I can’t help recalling you

A question burning a hole in my gut Will we find a way out of this rut? Or is it time to cut Ties And realize That though you are my best friend The end Is nigh And though we really did try We are both exhausted from the fight The truth fact reality case That I must face You are not the one So before our love unravels and every good moment undone I must leave your warm bed tender lover A severing pain but one From which we can recover.

about

Often Unrequited, Melody Chebrellan's first EP, was written, recorded, mixed and mastered in her bedroom closet in Berlin. Her voice, tinged with bittersweet melancholy, addresses the complexity of love and loss. Chebrellan's lilt and vibrato harken back to the likes of Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. Singing every part, she shows her incredible vocal range, while her play with words and turns of phrases evoke poetic images revealing strength in vulnerability. The rawness of the recordings creates an intimate throwback quality that makes you feel as though she is singing her secrets into your ear.
